The development of this garden focused on a young family needing improved access and functionality of the open space.  We developed a patio that directed you in to the garden and opened up an area that used the space efficiently whilst maximising the lawn area for the children to play in.  The Millboard decking has two access spaces, a long step which doubles up as seating and an additional pair of steps that takes you down to the lower patio.

Limestone paving, bespoke pergola and retaining wall transformed this space in to an intimate family zone and sun trap.  The Millboard planter contains a stunning multi stemmed specimen Heptocodium tree to provide dappled shade in summer.

Planting throughout the garden provides low maintenance and durability in line with children playing but also seasonal interest.  The lawn is contained within a metal edging to aid maintenance and keep the lines and form of the space.  The step stone path leads to the children’s play area with rubber bark and later an addition of a garden room will maximise how well the garden works for all of the family.
