This garden design in Stowlangtoft, Suffolk was developed for close friends who have collaborated with us on numerous projects, including private commissions and show gardens. Their outdoor space was uneven, lacking structure and planting direction, and needed to be transformed in time for their daughter’s wedding. With 18 months to mature, the design needed to provide immediate impact while establishing a long-lasting landscape full of texture and natural beauty.

We delivered a complete garden design and planting plan, creating a welcoming space around the house and re-imagining key areas to encourage outdoor use and movement through the garden. One priority was enhancing the entrance and gate area, turning it into a feature that invites you into the landscape. At the far end of the garden, a mature evergreen hedge formed a natural backdrop, so we developed the planting here to include winter-interest stems, scented plants and complementary tones that highlight the existing Acer.

A new paved seating area combined with a gravel garden formed the heart of the scheme. Naturalistic planting in flowing swathes of perennials and ornamental grasses brings softness, structure and seasonal variation. The result is a garden that evolves beautifully across the year, providing colour, movement and atmosphere for the wedding and beyond.

Our clients supplied all the metal edging for the planting beds, ensuring crisp lines and easy maintenance while retaining the organic shapes of the borders. Pebble Garden Design carried out the full landscaping and planting works, collaborating closely with the family throughout the process to bring this meaningful garden to life.
