Pleshey Farm, Essex
Our client for this 2 acre garden required a more manageable garden and modernisation of some of their existing borders. We provided a detailed garden design service along with planting plans and plant sourcing to ensure top quality plants and trees were installed.
The gardens were landscaped by Pebble with a focus on significant soil improvement, removal of conifer hedging which required extensive soil works to bring them back to fertility. This would ensure that the plants have a higher success rate and plenty of quality soil to become established. Herbaceous borders, scented shrubs and structural shrubs were used to provide seasonal interest but also working with some of the existing plants and make them in to focal points.
All of the hard landscaping design work was carried out by an external landscaping contractor with all specifications, hard landscape plans , bills of quantity and setting out plans provided by Pebble. We provide a tendering service and also work closely with landscaper specialist that suit the projects, in this case the large drive required a company with commercial experience to install the gravel grid free draining surface. This surface is a rut free method when using gravel and restricts migration of gravel leaving a constant flat surface with minimal maintenance, all retained with a metal edging for a clean crisp line.
Distance planting was essential in this space as the rear garden has a tennis court with a dominant fence and hedging to one side. We provided a garden design with winter interest dogwoods that set off against the dark greens of the hedge followed by tall flowing Miscanthus grasses that look good throughout the summer and look stunning during the cold icy winter months with their fronds glistening when covered in ice.
