SAWBRIDGEWORTH, ESSEX

This project was a large landscape with broken spaces that had minimal flow and functionality to meet the needs of a young family.

The clients required spaces to support multiple functions catering for individuals, family and groups alike.  Designed into the garden is a naturally filtering koi pond and an outdoor kitchen area with easy access from the property’s orangery. This kitchen is a bespoke design with a multi-functional kitchen area for cooking, dining and entertaining.

Exquisite silver porcelain paving range has been laid alongside beautifully textured Lucca range clay pavers which continue to run throughout the top section of the garden in line with borders filled with structural planting to provide seasonal interest.

A new upper lawn area was created and is retained with porcelain steps that are as wide as the upper area.  A barked area in the lower garden offers a woodland walk effect with towering trees and a mixture of planting. A new shed for garden tools and storage hides the compost heap stationed at the rear of the garden. Following down the path a natural stone water feature pours down from an upright position into a pond which then flows into the bigger pond accompanied by a clay paver bridge to allow the client to walk across, this area has been designed to allow the clients to have a Jurassic feeling defined by the planting and materials such as big natural stone steps leading you back to the bottom lawn.
